Spend your summer with LPC!

Are you a Canadian with a love for politics? Are you passionate about serving your community, engaging with volunteers, and talking with Canadians about the issues that matter most? The Liberal Party of Canada is looking for hardworking young leaders to join Justin Trudeau’s team to help us continue to grow Canada’s Liberal movement from coast to coast to coast — and to keep delivering real progress and results for Canadians.

Whether it includes marching in the Vancouver Pride Parade, knocking on doors in Montréal, making phone calls to Canadians in Winnipeg, getting our message out online, supporting our local Liberal associations in their communities, or learning directly from our campaign experts in Ottawa – an internship with the LPC is guaranteed to be an unforgettable summer! Our interns will have the opportunity to learn the foundations of organizing and campaigning directly from the people who helped build our successful campaigns in 2015, 2019, and 2021, and help us engage more Canadians in our work to keep Canada moving forward. As we work together to build on our progress, our team is looking for talented young Canadians to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table.

You’ll gain valuable career experience, and get to know leading members of the Liberal team.

While every individual’s tasks and projects will be different, selected Liberal interns may work in areas including:

  • Communications
  • Media Relations
  • Digital
  • National Field
  • Social Media
  • Email Engagement
  • Graphic and Web Design

Everything You Need to Know:

  • Are internships only open to students or recent grads?

As internships begin full-time, all interns must have completed high school, but you do not have to be a post-secondary student to apply. We encourage all young Canadians to apply, and to highlight on your CV why you believe you would be an asset to the Liberal Party of Canada – whether that’s your education, your personal experiences, or your work history.

  • Where will I work?

Interns will be placed with Liberal Party of Canada teams across the country. This could include our National Office in Ottawa, Regional Offices in major cities across the country, remote or hybrid postings, or working with Field Organizers who are growing our team in communities from coast to coast to coast. Please be sure to indicate in your application at least one primary city where you would be interested in working with our team.

  • Where will I live?

It is the responsibility of the intern to find and finance their own accommodations while working in Ottawa, or other locations where they accept an Internship.

  • What will be expected of interns?

The Liberal Party of Canada is focused on building our movement and connecting with as many Canadians as possible, as we work to keep Canada moving forward – for everyone. Whether it’s training our future campaign leaders, being involved in innovative and high-energy organizing, planning events in communities from coast to coast to coast, or speaking with Canadians about the issues that matter to them, this is an incredibly rewarding and fun place to work. We also work hard. The nature of that work may include the occasional weekend and evening work. Training, networking opportunities, and social activities with other interns will also occur throughout the summer. Due to the rigorous schedule of the program, it is not recommended that interns hold other positions during the program.

  • Who would make a strong person of reference?

Examples of strong references may include a Member of Parliament, past candidate, campaign manager, or volunteer coordinator, or Young Liberal campus club president. References from previous employers, or leaders of other organizations you’ve been a leader with or involved in would also be good to include.

  • Who can I contact for more information?

While we strive to answer all questions as quickly as possible, we receive a high volume of inquiries. Please note that we cannot provide updates on the timeline or status of your application at this time.
