Tax hike on local business, cuts to the economy will kill jobs
TORONTO – Thomas Mulcair’s corporate tax hike and cuts to the economy will kill jobs in the auto sector, said Liberal candidate for Markham—Thornhill, John McCallum.
“Thomas Mulcair is proposing job killing tax hikes on local business and deep cuts to the economy in order to eliminate the deficit at any cost, just like Harper,” said Mr. McCallum. “It amounts to a devastating one-two punch that will damage the auto sector and set Canada’s already struggling economy even further behind.”

Observers agree Mulcair’s economic approach is a lot like Harper’s:
“…the Conservatives and NDP have both made balancing the budget the cornerstone of their economic plans.”
(Toronto Star, September 9, 2015)
“The NDP has a concrete plan to ‘kickstart’ the economy. Its plan is (drum roll) to balance the budget. Which is, ahem, exactly Harper’s plan, too.”
(William Watson, National Post, September 3, 2015)
“…when Mr. Mulcair and Mr. Harper cost out their promises, Canadians may find there’s not a lot of light separating the parties’ approaches to fiscal management.”

“Thomas Mulcair pretends he supports the auto sector, while at the same time he’s silent on his policies that will do significant harm. It’s just the latest example that Thomas Mulcair will say whatever people want to hear,” said Mr. McCallum.
“Liberals will create jobs with the most significant infrastructure investment in Canadian history. We’ll invest in families, so Canadians can make ends meet; in roads and bridges, and in clean energy,” said Liberal candidate for Niagara Falls, Ron Planche. “Only Justin Trudeau is promising to invest in our economy to support jobs and growth. That’s real change from Harper.”
