Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Thai Pongal

OTTAWA– The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the occasion of Thai Pongal:

“Beginning today, Tamils here in Canada and around the world will be celebrating the end of the harvest season with the festival of Thai Pongal.

“This festival is an occasion to rejoice in new opportunities and to show our appreciation for the bounties of the season and our good fortune. This is also a time to recognise the importance of the Tamil community in Canada. Your hard work and commitment towards a future filled with peace and prosperity for yourselves, your families, and your communities, are values shared by all Canadians.

“I very much look forward to participating in Thai Pongal events in the coming days. On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada, our Parliamentary Caucus, and my family, it gives me great pleasure to extend my best wishes for a wonderful festival.”
