Don't let the Conservatives shout us down. Let them know Canadians insist that women's voices be heard, including in the House of Commons.

Thursday evening, Justin Trudeau will take the stage in Montreal to deliver a major address to Canadians. His speech will mark the opening of the Montreal 2014 - Liberal Biennial Convention. But it will also be a rallying call to all Canadians who believe in the promise of growth for the middle class.

Lt. General (retired) Andrew Leslie led Canada’s mission in Afghanistan. He served his country with distinction. He retired in 2011 and started advising Justin Trudeau on international affairs last year. As a retiring general, Leslie made one final move in 2013. The Department of National Defence, which handled all aspects of the move, did not make him aware of the costs.

Minister Flaherty also failed to mention that this budget hurts middle class Canadians by prolonging the status quo; there is no plan to grow the economy or provide relief for families. The budget does next to nothing to help parents who are struggling to pay the bills.

The economy will be the central theme at our upcoming Montreal 2014 – Liberal Biennial Convention February 20 to 23. We will use this opportunity to introduce new ideas. But more importantly, we will listen and engage. We know Canadians are passionate about this country’s potential and want to play a role in generating the ideas that move our economy forward.
