The Turkey Talk is here to help you out during that point of Thanksgiving dinner when the cranberry sauce gets too saucy, the pumpkin pie gets political, or the mashed potatoes end up on the wall (despite our best efforts).
Affordability
Let’s get this out on the table during the first course…
While we’re taking important steps to invest in Canadians and put more money in their pockets, Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives have continually voted against our progress to make life more affordable, and have been pushing cuts to services that Canadian families rely on.

There’s no denying that life is feeling more expensive this year. Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team have taken important steps to make life more affordable for Canadians including:
- Delivering the new Grocery Rebate
- Moving forward with the Canadian Dental Benefit
- Enhancing the Canada Workers Benefit
- Introducing $10-a-day child care
- Permanently eliminated interest on Canada Student Loans
- Putting more money in the pockets of seniors by boosting OAS and GIS
Climate Change
Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives still have no plan to fight climate change.
Ready for the extra portion?
At their most recent convention this summer, he doubled down on scrapping our climate plan, making pollution free again, and rolling back our progress to protect the environment and grow our economy.

From introducing Canada’s first-ever national climate plan, putting a price on pollution, banning harmful single-use plastics, ensuring 100% of vehicles sold in Canada will be ZEVs by 2035, and protecting more than 14% of our oceans and coasts, our Liberal team is taking real climate action for our environment, our economy, and our workers.
Seniors
Seniors deserve a secure retirement. Let’s leave their pensions out of this…
When Pierre Poilievre and Stephen Harper wanted to raise the retirement age from 65 to 67 – our Liberal team said no.
Canadian seniors deserve to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work. Not only did we reverse that reckless policy, we’ve taken extra steps to strengthen seniors’ pensions including:
- Permanently increasing OAS for seniors aged 75+, to help with the increased cost of living as seniors age
- Raising the GIS by 10% for single seniors and expanding income exemptions, so seniors can retire when they choose
- Enhancing CPP payments, to help more Canadians save more money for when they choose to retire

Can you name a more iconic duo than turkey and mashed potatoes? We can: Conservatives and their cuts to services that Canadians rely on. But Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team will always have your back.
A Growing Economy
While Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives’ only plan for the economy is cuts, and he is encouraging Canadians to invest their life savings in volatile cryptocurrencies to “opt-out” of inflation, our Liberal team is working to deliver for Canadians.

We know that times haven’t been easy for everyone, and that’s why we’re continuing our work to make life more affordable and grow an economy that works for all Canadians. By increasing the Canada Child Benefit, working to stabilize grocery prices, delivering the Canada Workers Benefit, indexing GIS and CPP with inflation, and so much more – we’re continuing to deliver real results for Canadian families.
Housing
We won’t coat this with gravy: too many Canadians are struggling with the cost of housing.
Here’s what we’re doing about it:
- Removing the GST on the construction of new apartment buildings
- Doubling the rate of housing construction over the next 10 years
- Helping young people afford a home by doubling the First Time Home Buyers’ Tax Credit
- Created a new Tax-Free First Home Savings Account
- Making sure house flippers pay their fair share and cracking down on foreign ownership and speculation
- Investing in the Housing Accelerator Fund to work with cities to build housing faster
While we’re taking concrete action on making housing more affordable and getting more homes built, Pierre Poilievre voted against all of the above measures. And his housing priorities would increase red tape and do less to build more homes.

Health Care
Canadians place a lot of trust in our universal public health care system and Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team are committed to delivering a better public health care system that works for all Canadians.

While Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives continue to oppose our progress to improve health care and push to make cuts, we’ll keep standing up for the principles of our universal health care system and working to deliver real results.
We’re ensuring Canadians have access to a family doctor, supporting our health care workers, reducing waitlists, investing in mental health and addictions services, modernizing our health care system, and so much more.
Pierre Poilievre’s Priorities
Here’s an extra slice of pie for dessert:

Pierre Poilievre has made it clear that his priorities are to make cuts to services Canadians rely on and import far-right American-style politics here to Canada.
In just over a year of being leader, Pierre Poilievre has been promoting volatile cryptocurrencies to “opt-out” of inflation, pushing legislation to restrict abortion access, campaigning to defund the CBC and Radio-Canada, proposing cuts to services that Canadian seniors and families rely on, trying to roll back our climate action, and wanting to put assault weapons back in our communities.
He’s focused on taking Canada backward, and it’s going to take all of us working together to stop him. We need your help to keep Canada moving forward and keep delivering on the progress we’re making.
