Trudeau sharing plan for real change for middle class in first French-language Leaders’ debate
September 23, 2015
MONTREAL – In the campaign’s first French-language Leaders’ debate tomorrow, Francophones across the country will see that only Liberals have the strong team and plan for real change that will create jobs, grow the middle class, and help those working hard to join it, said the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
“After a decade under Stephen Harper, Canadians are struggling. People right across this country tell me the same thing: it’s getting harder and harder to make ends meet,” said Mr. Trudeau. “While Thomas Mulcair thinks our economy can wait years for new investment, Liberals know we need to make vital investments now – in public transit, child care, retirement security, training, and innovation – to grow the economy, generate good-paying jobs, and create more livable communities for middle class Canadians.”
The French-language Leaders’ debate will give Francophone Canadians the first opportunity to hear directly about each party’s plan to get our struggling economy back on track. Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada have a three-point plan for change that will: create jobs, by making a historic investment in infrastructure; grow the middle class by raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent and cutting taxes for middle class Canadians; and help those working to join the middle class by investing in essential social infrastructure, such as affordable housing and child care, as well as providing more money to help families with the high cost of raising their kids.
“While Mulcair says whatever is politically convenient to get elected, and Harper would have us believe that better isn’t possible, Liberals know that better is always possible,” said Mr. Trudeau. “We know that Canadians want change – not in two or three elections – and only the Liberals have the team and the plan that will invest in the future so all Canadians can succeed.”
