Harper calls Rob and Doug Ford “a bunch of losers”

TORONTO – Stephen Harper will end his campaign today on stage with Rob and Doug Ford, two men he recently called “a bunch of losers.”

And Harper’s Conservative candidates haven’t been any kinder.

“This isn’t how Stephen Harper wanted to end his campaign, standing on stage with two men he aggressively criticized, two men who represent everything he pretends to be against,” said Liberal candidate for Toronto–St. Paul’s, Carolyn Bennett. “It shows there’s no limit to the depths Stephen Harper will sink to, even after ten failed years that have been defined by negativity and division.”

Harper called the Fords “a bunch of losers”:

“When Mr. Tory was running against Doug Ford, the Prime Minister and Laureen Harper were telling John Tory how much they wanted Doug to lose and that Doug and Rob were a bunch of losers, and they were hoping that [Tory] was going to win, become mayor of Toronto, and now [Harper] has resorted to the desperation of having Rob and Doug Ford in an audience, and a very small audience at that.”

Jason Kenney said Rob Ford “brought dishonour”:

“I think Mr. Ford has brought dishonour to public office and the office of mayor and his city… I wish he had taken a leave of absence some time ago to go and deal with his personal problems but not having done that, I personally think he should step aside and stop dragging the City of Toronto through this terrible embarrassment… I think there is dignity in public service and elected office and he is doing, regrettably, dishonour to that high office.”

Lisa Raitt called Rob Ford’s comments “unacceptable”:

“A visibly angry federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt slammed Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s comments on violence against women Thursday, saying the mayor needs to ‘get his life in order.’ ‘I don’t think it’s appropriate to use imagery about violence against women when you have a problem or a conflict with a colleague. I just think it’s unacceptable.’”
