Liberal Statement on National Aboriginal History Month
June 3, 2014
OTTAWA – Liberal Aboriginal Affairs Critic, Carolyn Bennett, today issued the following statement on National Aboriginal History Month:
“This June marks a month-long period of celebrating and learning about Aboriginal culture and history. Aboriginal History Month is an opportunity to acknowledge the fundamental and enduring contributions of Aboriginal peoples to the building of our country.
“During National Aboriginal History Month, let us remember the collaborative, nation-to-nation relationship with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit on which our country was founded, by fostering a greater understanding of Aboriginal peoples and their central role in our shared history and future.”
