Statement by the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada Justin Trudeau on the Rail Tragedy in Lac-Mégantic

SASKATOON, SK– Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada Justin Trudeau made the following statement today on the rail tragedy in Lac-Mégantic:

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of today’s train explosion and the devastating fire in Lac-Mégantic.

My thoughts are with all the families who have had to be evacuated, and especially with all those who are searching for their loved ones. We all hope that the situation will evolve in the safest way possible given the circumstances, and we are reassured to see that emergency aid and services are being deployed.

I would encourage all those with information on missing persons in the area to directly contact the authorities.”
