Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on the Birthday of the Aga Khan

SUDBURY, ON– The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the 77^th birthday of His Highness the Aga Khan:

“It is with great pleasure that I extend my best wishes to His Highness the Aga Khan on his 77^th birthday.

“For over half a century, as the spiritual leader of Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, His Highness has worked tirelessly as an advocate for tolerance and compassion. Through the Aga Khan Foundation, His Highness has made an incredible impact in advancing long-term solutions to hunger, poverty, disease, and illiteracy around the world.

“His Highness has also passionately championed the ideals of pluralism and diversity, both values treasured by Canadians.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I am delighted to join Ismailis in Canada and worldwide in sending my warmest wishes to His Highness on this joyful occasion.”
