Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on the tragedy in L’Isle-Verte

EDMONTON– The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, issued ​​the following statement today on the major fire in L’Isle-Verte, Quebec, which resulted in several casualties:

“What tragic news coming from L’Isle-Verte this morning. Our thoughts are with the many families affected, and we hope that the situation will be under control as quickly as possible.

“I also want to express my admiration and gratitude to the firefighters and other first responders who are working tirelessly in very difficult conditions, as well as the Moisson-d’Arts school and volunteers of the Red Cross who are ensuring support for the evacuated population.

“The residents of L’Isle-Verte and surrounding communities are going through a very difficult time and I want, on behalf of my family and the Liberal Party of Canada, to say that we are behind them and wish them strength and courage during this tragedy.”
