Trudeau promoting real change for middle class in second French-language Leaders’ debate
October 2, 2015
MONTREAL – At tonight’s French-language Leaders’ debate, Quebecers and Canadians across the country will see that only Justin Trudeau and the Liberals have the strong plan to immediately invest in job creation to help the middle class and those working hard to join it.
“Meeting with Quebecers, and Canadians from coast to coast to coast, it is clear: after the Harper decade, people want real change that will make a difference in their lives now – not years from now,” said the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau. “While Thomas Mulcair wants Canadians to wait years for new investment, Liberals will make significant investments right now – in public transit, our roads and bridges, retirement security, the environment, home care, training, and innovation – to grow the economy, generate well-paid jobs, and create more livable communities.”
The TVA Leaders’ debate, the second and final French-language debate of the campaign, will give Canadians the opportunity to learn about Mr. Trudeau’s three-point plan for change that will: create jobs by making an historic investment in infrastructure; grow the middle class by raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent and cutting taxes for middle class Canadians; and help those working to join the middle class by providing more money to help families with the high cost of raising their kids, and investing in essential social infrastructure, including affordable housing and seniors’ facilities.
“Canadians are tired of Stephen Harper’s failed plan that gives billions in benefits to the wealthiest few and does nothing to help the middle class. Meanwhile, Thomas Mulcair has shown he will say anything politically convenient to get elected, and has already broken his promises on important issues, like child care and health care,” said Mr. Trudeau. “In contrast, Liberals have a strong team and prudent plan to invest in our future now and create growth that works for everyone. That is exactly what we will continue to share with Canadians over the last few weeks of this campaign.”
