Statement on the passing of the Honourable Mauril Bélanger

OTTAWA – The following is a statement from Anna Gainey, President of the Liberal Party of Canada:

“Today we have lost a great friend and an exemplary Member of Parliament. Mauril Bélanger’s lifetime of dedicated service to the people of Ottawa – Vanier, to the Liberal Party of Canada, and to the House of Commons is an inspiration to all Canadians.”

“Mauril’s legacy is a Parliament that has been immensely enriched by his courage, ideas, and contributions – and his steadfast belief that ‘Canada is all of us, not some of us.’ We offer our deepest condolences to all of his loved ones, and our gratitude for the innumerable ways that he has made Canada’s future brighter.”
