Week ten: Trudeau launches platform, continues sharing new plan for a strong middle class
October 11, 2015
OTTAWA – This week on the campaign trail, Liberal Party of Canada Leader, Justin Trudeau, continued to share his plan for real change with Canadians in Brampton, Waterloo, Montréal, Sherbrooke, Granby, London, Fredericton, Sussex, Vaughan, Oakville, Toronto, Yellowknife, and Iqaluit.
Mr. Trudeau began the week by unveiling the Liberal Party of Canada’s full election platform focused on delivering real change for middle class Canadians, now.
To demonstrate that a Liberal government will bring immediate change for the middle class, and that Canadians will see more money on their paycheques right away, Mr. Trudeau has committed that a Liberal government will introduce, as its very first bill in Parliament, a tax cut for the middle class. Furthermore, Liberals will also introduce the Canada Child Benefit – one bigger, fair, tax-free, automatic, monthly child benefit – in our very first budget. Nine of out ten Canadian families will be better off under our plan than under Stephen Harper’s.
Mr. Trudeau ended the week in Canada’s North, where he shared the Liberal plan to invest in northerners by reducing the high cost of living, improving the Nutrition North program, and prioritizing affordable housing and climate preparedness.
Stephen Harper is out of touch, and for ten years he’s ignored those at the heart of our economy, our middle class, who have had to work longer and harder to make ends meet. Canadians can’t afford another decade like the Harper decade.
Liberals have a strong plan to deliver real change now – not a decade from now. It’s time for real change.
