Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Hanukkah

OTTAWA– The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, made the following statement today on Hanukkah:

“Over the next eight days, Jewish families across Canada and around the world will be lighting the menorah in celebration of Hanukkah.

“Hanukkah marks just one of many periods in history when the Jewish people have struggled against overwhelming oppression and hardship.

“This celebration of triumph over adversity gives all Canadians an opportunity to reflect on the great contributions of our country’s vibrant Jewish community. This serves as a reminder that our country has been made strong not in spite of our differences, but because of them.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary caucus, I am pleased to wish you and your loved ones a very happy Hannukah!
