Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Korean New Year

TORONTO – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the occasion of Seollal, the Korean New Year:

“Today, Koreans in Canada and around the world gather with loved ones to celebrate the beginning of the Lunar New Year. This marks the Year of the Goat, symbolizing peace and prosperity.

“As Korean-Canadians gather with family and friends to eat traditional foods, play folk games, and exchange gifts, we take this moment to reflect on their rich history in Canada, and on the strong and ever-growing relationship that our nation has enjoyed with Korea, benefitting both our peoples for more than half a century.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, Sophie and I extend our best wishes for happiness, good health, and good fortune to all those celebrating Seollal.”
