Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Canadian Armed Forces Day

OTTAWA – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Canadian Armed Forces Day:

“Today, on Canadian Armed Forces Day, we thank our men and women in uniform – both past and present – who serve with the utmost courage, honour, and selflessness, and we thank their families for the incredible support they provide.

“At Vimy Ridge, in the Scheldt estuary, across the Panjwai District, and in the countless conflict zones in between, the Canadian Armed Forces have been a source of enormous pride for our nation. Whether on combat operations, peacekeeping missions, or disaster-relief responses, they have gone above and beyond the call of duty, defending our sovereignty at home and protecting our interests abroad.

“We owe a great debt to all those who have served and who continue to serve our country; their extraordinary sacrifice must not be taken for granted. On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I reaffirm our commitment to the well-being of all Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, and their families.”
