Ending Plastic Pollution and Cutting Waste
August 28, 2021
Canadians are tired of seeing plastic litter our oceans, rivers, lakes and parks – and harming the wildlife that call those places home.
We’ve already taken real and meaningful action to cut plastic waste by banning harmful single-use plastics and improving recycling across Canada, but we know there’s more to do.
A re-elected Liberal government would continue to move forward and keep plastic out of our environment, cut waste, and create 42,000 jobs by:
- Ending plastic pollution by 2030;
- Collecting and recycling more plastic beverage bottles;
- Requiring all plastic packaging to be 50% recycled plastic by 2030; and
- Making producers responsible for recycling plastic waste
Working with provinces and territories, we will continue taking bold action to reduce plastic waste, protect our environment, and create good new jobs across the country.
