Harper still running a deficit

Today, Canadians learned that Stephen Harper is still running a deficit, and it is time for a new plan for jobs and economic growth, said Liberal Finance Critic, Scott Brison.

“Stephen Harper is still running a deficit so he can give taxpayers’ money to those who need it least,” said Mr. Brison. “Conservatives promised Canadians that they would balance the budget. Today’s report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer makes clear they have failed.”

The Parliamentary Budget Officer today released its fiscal analysis revealing the federal government is on track to run a $1 billion deficit this year.

“Harper’s plan has failed middle class Canadians, who are working longer and harder just to make ends meet. After a decade of Harper, it is time for new leadership and a new plan,” said Mr. Brison. “Only Justin Trudeau has a plan for real change that will create jobs and economic growth.”
