“On Remembrance Day, Canadians come together in solemn recognition of the incredible courage and sacrifices of our country’s men and women in uniform.

“Recent events serve as a reminder for us all of the enormous debt owed to our Canadian Armed Forces members, past and present, and the contributions they have made in the name of freedom and democracy.

“We have a social covenant with our veterans and their families – a sacred obligation that ensures that those who serve, and their families, will have nothing less than the best of care and support from a grateful nation.

“Our servicemen and women exhibit the very best of what it means to be Canadian. Today, as on all days, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Canadian Armed Forces.”
