REGINA AND OTTAWA – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the shooting of RCMP officers in Moncton, New Brunswick:
“Sophie and I offer our profound condolences to the families of the three RCMP officers who were killed and to the officers who were injured last night. We are thankful to hear that these two officers are now in stable condition and we wish them both strength and speed in their recoveries.
“We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the law enforcement officials who dedicate their lives to keeping our citizens and our communities safe from harm. Today, we grieve the loss of your fellow officers with you, and we unequivocally condemn this senseless act of violence.”
Liberal House Leader and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, Dominic LeBlanc, continued:
“While our community may be both shocked and saddened, I know that we are also strong. The days ahead may be difficult, but I have no doubt that we can rely on one another for support and strength as we move forward.”
