Liberals Call for Calm in Egypt

SHEDIAC, NB– Liberal Foreign Affairs critic Dominic LeBlanc made the following statement today on the continuing violence in Egypt:

“The Liberal Party of Canada is very concerned with the ongoing unrest in Egypt, and we are calling on all parties to immediately reject and end any violence.

We firmly support the voices of the Egyptian people calling for protections for religious minorities, respect for human rights, democracy and security for all.

As the situation continues to evolve, it is our hope that those with the ability to ensure peace and safety for Egyptians will do everything in their power to protect innocent citizens from further violence. Indeed, violence will not resolve this turmoil; only dialogue will.”
