Liberals Call For Information Commissioner Investigation of PMO Ethics Scandal
November 17, 2013
REGINA– The Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Ralph Goodale, today issued a letter to the Information Commissioner of Canada requesting an investigation of an Access to Information (ATIP) response he received about the PMO Ethics Scandal.
One June 7, 2013, Mr. Goodale submitted an ATIP request to the Privy Council Office – which serves the Prime Minister – about reports that the Prime Minister’s Office and Senator Mike Duffy were in direct collaboration in the PMO Ethics Scandal and cover-up. On June 28, 2013, Mr. Goodale received a response from the Privy Council Office stating that no documents, emails or other records could be found whatsoever.
However, recent statements and filings made by Senator Duffy would indicate that such records do in fact exist, and are of concern in the ongoing RCMP investigation.
The text of the letter from Mr. Goodale, requesting a full investigation by the Information Commissioner’s office, may be viewed here.
