Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on the Day of Vesak

OTTAWA – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement in celebration of the Day of Vesak:

“On the Day of Vesak, Buddhists in Canada and around the world honour the birth, enlightenment and passing of Gautama Buddha.

“It is a chance for all to reflect on the teachings of the Buddha. On this day of observance, we pay homage to a leader who encouraged his community to show compassion, and help those in need. Let us be inspired by his message, and continue to put the needs of others before our own.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish all those observing this sacred day great joy and peace.”
