September 11, 2014
LONDON, ON – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the anniversary of 9/11 and on the National Day of Service:
“Today, I stand with all Canadians in solemn remembrance of the September 11th terrorist attacks in the United States.
“The loss of life that day – including 24 Canadians – profoundly altered the fabric of our country and that of our global community. Yet we have also witnessed the tremendous resilience of the human spirit and our ability to rebuild with common purpose.
“Today, we also honour the police officers, firefighters, and first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. We recognize the daily sacrifices made by our military servicemen and women, particularly those who have served in Afghanistan, and we give thanks for their tireless dedication to peace, freedom, and democracy.
“The Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus stand with Canadians as we honour those lives lost and the sacrifice of those who serve. We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the security of all Canadians now and in the future.”
