Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Labour Day
September 1, 2014
OTTAWA – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Labour Day:
“Today, many Canadians will be joining friends and family in backyards and at barbecues across the country. While we take this opportunity to enjoy the last days of summer, let us not forget the roots of Labour Day, as a celebration of the accomplishments of the Canadian labour movement over more than a century.
“In the face of great adversity, organized labour has played an integral role in ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and equitable relations with employers. Today, Canadian workers continue to build on these important achievements.
“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish all Canadians a very happy Labour Day.”
