August 14, 2014
SASKATOON – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement in recognition of Pakistan’s Independence Day:
“Today, I join with members of the Liberal Party of Canada and the entirety of our Parliamentary Caucus in sending our warmest wishes to all those celebrating the 67th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence. Members of Canada’s Pakistani community will celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day by reaching out to share their history and culture with fellow Canadians at events held across the country today.
“Together, we recognize that the values of the Pakistani community are ones that all Canadians share, and we are reminded that our diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths. With so many people of Pakistani descent who call Canada home, today is an opportunity for us all to take pride in the contributions that they have made to our country, and that an independent Pakistan has made to the world.
“As we celebrate today, I would like to wish you and your loved ones the very best on this special occasion.”
