August 7, 2014
VANCOUVER – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, made the following statement today following Liberal MP Ted Hsu’s announcement that he will not be seeking re-election:
“Today, I would like to thank Ted for his devoted service to the people of Kingston and the Islands, as well as for the many contributions that he has made to the Liberal Caucus as Critic for Science and Technology, Post-Secondary Education, and Economic Development in Ontario. His extensive experience in the fields of physics, finance, and sustainable energy has been an invaluable asset to the Liberal team.
“Since entering politics in 2011, Ted has distinguished himself through his hard work, which has earned him the respect and trust of colleagues from all parties in the House of Commons. He has also been a tireless advocate of Liberal values both inside and outside the walls of Parliament.
“Ted has always been a strong voice and advocate for his constituents. His dedication to the people of Kingston and the Islands serves as a powerful example of how all parliamentarians ought to represent and engage with the citizens in their ridings. He will remain an active and committed Member of Parliament until his constituents elect their next representative in 2015.
“I would once again like to thank Ted for all that he has done for the Liberal Party of Canada and for the people of Kingston and the Islands. We wish him and his family well as they prepare to embark upon the next chapter of their lives.”
