Trudeau leads with plan for sustainable growth in Northern Ontario

SUDBURY, ON, and SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today shared his plan to create sustainable economic growth for the middle class, generate economic opportunities in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, and create the clean jobs of tomorrow.
“After ten years, Stephen Harper has failed to deliver a sensible, credible approach to the economy and the environment,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Middle class families in Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, and right across the country are struggling to make ends meet. Only Liberals have a real plan that will invest in our future and ensure everyone has a real and fair chance to succeed.”
Liberals know there is enormous opportunity for communities that invest in new, innovative, clean technology, and a government led by Justin Trudeau will collaborate with the private sector, provincial and territorial governments, and research institutions to invest in sustainable growth for middle class Canadians. To help Canadian workers and companies innovate, we will invest $200 million more annually to create sector-specific strategies that support clean technologies in the forestry, fisheries, mining, energy, and agricultural sectors. We will also invest in clean technology producers working to tackle Canada’s most pressing environmental challenges, whether in our air, in our water, or on our land.
“Mr. Harper does not understand that clean technologies, like those in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, create good middle class Canadian jobs, build wealth, and reduce pollution,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Only Liberals have the plan to create the sustainable prosperity and jobs middle class families deserve.”
