Trudeau showcases plan for real change in French-language debate

MONTREAL – At tonight’s TVA Leaders’ debate, Justin Trudeau once again demonstrated that only Liberals have a plan for real change that will grow Canada’s economy by creating jobs and strengthening the middle class.
“After a decade of Stephen Harper, Canadians know that it’s time for change. The stories I hear are consistent, regardless of whether I’m in Saint-Boniface, Saint-Tite, or Montreal: it’s getting harder and harder to make ends meet, and families are feeling the squeeze of a struggling economy,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Only Liberals are willing to make the kinds of significant investments our country needs right now – not years from now. When we invest in things like public transit, retirement security, and our environment, we invest in Canada and we invest in Canadians.”
Liberals have a three-point plan for change that will: create jobs by making historic investments in infrastructure; grow the middle class by raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent and cutting taxes for middle class Canadians; and help those working to join the middle class by providing more money to help families with the high cost of raising their kids, and investing in essential social infrastructure, including affordable housing and seniors’ facilities.
“Confident countries invest in their futures and build ambitiously. Interest rates are at historic lows, Canada’s debt-ratio is low and declining, and we have thousands of skilled Canadians who are looking for work. Now is the time to invest in Canadians,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Our Liberal plan to grow the economy and put more money in the pockets of our middle class is realistic, prudent, sustainable, and transparent. As we head into the final weeks of this campaign, I look forward to further sharing our Liberal vision for a more prosperous country for all Canadians.”
