Tell Harper: Stop maligning Supreme Court Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin

irwin-cotler.jpgStephen Harper recently maligned Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin as part of the Conservative’s ongoing attack on the Supreme Court and Canada’s judiciary.

Many Canadians and especially legal professionals — like me — are rightly outraged by the Government’s unprecedented and unwarranted assault on the independence and integrity of the courts.

I have criticized Mr. Harper in Parliament and in the press. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has stated publicly that Mr. Harper’s behaviour is “beneath” the office of Prime Minister.
