Liberal Statement on the Games of La Francophonie
September 7, 2013
MONTRÉAL– Liberal Amateur Sport critic, Massimo Pacetti, made the following statement today on the Games of La Francophonie:
“Today marks the opening of the 7th Games of La Francophonie, taking place in Nice, France. This wonderful event, which brings together 57 countries, is an occasion to celebrate the common language we love that brings us together.
Athletes the world over will meet in this environment of mutual respect, camaraderie and healthy competition, which is unique to amateur sport. Our Canadian athletes will have the chance to socialize with young people from different backgrounds and to share a bit of their culture, all while proudly representing us on the world stage.
On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish the best of luck to all of our Canadian athletes participating in the Games of La Francophonie. Canada is cheering for you!”
