Liberals unveil membership of Economic Council of Advisors
December 16, 2014
“During the past year, we have brought together non-partisan experts from across the country to examine the key economic issues facing Canadians, as well as potential policies a new federal government ought to consider,” said Liberal Party of Canada Leader, Justin Trudeau. “With the help of these distinguished individuals and Canadians from coast to coast to coast, we are building a plan for a stronger economy and a stronger middle class.”
The Economic Council of Advisors is co-chaired by Liberal International Trade Critic, Chrystia Freeland, and Liberal Finance Critic, Hon. Scott Brison. They are joined by Hon. Ralph Goodale, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. Judy Sgro, Miles Corak, Blaine Favel, George Gosbee, Aldéa Landry, Martin LeBlanc, Frank McKenna, Kevin Milligan, Mike Moffatt, Bill Morneau, Alain Paquet, Barbara Stymiest, and Sherri Torjman. The Council has met with Mr. Trudeau several times during the past year to discuss infrastructure investment, Canada’s energy sector, middle class growth and opportunity, and the government’s fall fiscal update.
“Liberals are committed to engaging with Canadians about how to address the central economic challenges of our time,” said Mr. Trudeau. “We have benefitted immensely from the experience of our Economic Council, and we will continue to welcome experts to our growing team of advisors.”
