Once again, Mulcair shows that he just cannot be trusted

After promising to bring back a long gun registry last December, Mulcair is now adamant he won’t do so
MONTREAL – Thomas Mulcair has once again demonstrated that he just cannot be trusted. Asked in Regina yesterday whether or not he intended to bring back a long gun registry, he was adamant that the NDP had no such intention:
“The NDP is categorical: we will not be bringing back any gun registry, period.”

This would have been news to many Canadians, as on December 3rd last year, the week of the 25th anniversary of the Polytechnique massacre, Mr. Mulcair was equally categorical on his intention to bring back a long gun registry:
“Q: When you look at the opposition parties, the Liberal Party and you, everyone is criticizing the destruction of the registry, these steps back in terms of safeguards against firearms, yet no one is promising to bring back the registry?”
Mulcair: “We are categorical. The police must absolutely have the means to track all firearms in Canada. Let me be clear on this…” [Translation]
…
Q: So you’re in favour of some form of registry, just not the registry we had before?
Mulcair: Exactly. Very well said.”

“Once again we see Mr. Mulcair saying one thing in one part of the country, and then another when campaigning in a different part of the country where he knows that his views aren’t as popular,” said Marc Garneau, Liberal candidate for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce–Westmount. “Mr. Mulcair will simply say anything to get elected. Canadians demand better from their politicians.”
