MONTREAL – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day:
“Today, Quebecers and French-Canadians celebrate la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.
“On la Fête nationale, we highlight the history of Quebec and our ancestors. As a Quebecer, I am proud of my province’s unique character, which is an integral part of my identity.
“June 24th also marks Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, a celebration of all Francophones. From coast to coast to coast, we pay homage to the French language, and our proud French-Canadian traditions. This day is an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the vital cultural influence of Francophones across our country.
“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, Sophie and I wish all those celebrating a safe and happy Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.”
