Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Nayrouz

Vancouver, BC – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement in recognition of Nayrouz:

“On September 11, Coptic Christians in Canada, and around the world, will gather to celebrate the first day of the Coptic New Year.

“Also known as ‘Feast of the Rivers’, on this day we gather to pray, exchange gifts, and visit with family, friends, and community. We give thanks for the rising waters of the Nile which provided farmers with essential irrigation for their crops, and honour all those who sacrificed for their religious beliefs.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada, I wish those marking this day a happy Nayrouz.”
