Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Labour Day
August 30, 2013
OTTAWA– The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, made the following statement today on the occasion of Labour Day:
“Today, Canadians across the country are celebrating Labour Day. This long weekend is an opportunity to gather with family and friends in parks and at backyard barbecues as we near the end of summer.
Most importantly, Labour Day serves as a reminder of the achievements – in the face of great adversity – of the labour movement here in Canada. For well over a century now, we have marked this occasion as an opportunity to recognise organised labour’s historic struggle for workers’ rights, safety and fair pay.
As we celebrate the tremendous contribution of workers in our country, I would like to wish all Canadians a very happy Labour Day.”
