Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on the XXII Winter Olympics

MONTRÉAL – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement on the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia:

“Today, Canadians from coast to coast to coast are united in supporting our athletes as we celebrate the beginning of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

“My family and I share in the excitement felt across the country as we watch Team Canada, proudly sporting our maple leaf, and we look forward to great successes at these Games.

“With such a strong and diverse team, I am confident that Canada will be well-represented on the world stage. I am particularly proud that our athletes will serve as strong representatives of Canada’s commitment to the values of acceptance, inclusivity, and freedom of expression.

“On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish all Team Canada athletes competing in Sochi the best of luck. Go, Canada, go!”
