Trudeau continues sharing plan for real change in second Leaders’ Debate
September 17, 2015
CALGARY, AB – Tonight, Canadians will once again see that only Liberals have the team and a real, strong plan to create jobs, grow the middle class, and help those working hard to join it, said the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
“Under Stephen Harper, middle class Canadians have to work longer and harder just to make ends meet – in an economy that no longer works for them. We’ve seen personal debts rising as job prospects shrink,” said Mr. Trudeau. “In this debate and this election, Canadians have a clear choice between smart investments that create jobs and growth, or cuts that will slow our economy further. Only Liberals have a real plan to build a strong economy and middle class.”
The Globe and Mail Leaders’ Debate 2015 will provide each federal leader with the chance to present Canadians with their plan to get our struggling economy back on track. Liberals have a three-point plan that will create jobs, with the most significant infrastructure investment in Canadian history; grow the middle class by raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent and cutting taxes for middle class Canadians; and help those working to join the middle class by investing in essential social infrastructure, including affordable housing and child care, as well as providing more money to help families with the high cost of raising their kids.
“After a decade of Stephen Harper, it is clear that he is more worried about his own job than Canadians. And after a lifetime in politics, Mr. Mulcair will say whatever he thinks is politically useful to get elected, and has already broken his promises on transit infrastructure, child care, and health care,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Only Liberals are being honest with Canadians about what it will take to grow our economy. We need investment in job creation, in the middle class, and in those working hard to join it. That is how we will build a country that works for everyone.”
