It’s your turn to weigh in
June 11, 2014
Like many Canadians, I believe transparency can enhance our government and democracy.
Last year, Liberal MPs raised the bar on openness and transparency in Parliament with our Open Parliament plan — including voluntarily disclosing our travel and hospitality expenses.
Because we led by example, all MPs in the House of Commons are now required to disclose these expenses quarterly.
Now, it’s time to show leadership again.
That’s why, today, I’ve introduced a new private member’s bill on openness and transparency.
It addresses access to information requests, the role of the Information Commissioner, and the secret nature of the House of Commons Board of Internal Economy.
{FirstName}, I want this bill to have a real chance at success, which is why I’m interested in your ideas to make it the best it can be. I’m listening; if you have a great idea, I want to know about it!
Please, click here and take the 2-minute poll — let me know what you think about openness and transparency in government.
Rest assured, I’ll be incorporating good ideas, no matter what the source, in the hopes that this bill will pass.
I’m very excited to find out what you have to say.
Thank you.
Justin
