With friends like Stephen Harper, Alberta’s economy doesn’t need enemies

CALGARY, AB – After a decade of Stephen Harper, Albertans are looking for new leadership and a new plan to grow the middle class and grow the economy, said the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today.
“Albertans had high expectations for Stephen Harper, but after a decade in power, he’s failed on the economy and broken his promise to bring open, honest government to Ottawa,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Liberals are offering change that will make a real difference in the lives of Albertans and all Canadians – change that will help families make ends meet, put more money in peoples’ pockets, and bring this country together.”
Albertans are struggling to make ends meet. Harper, in the meantime, has picked fights with our American neighbours, failed to get our resources to markets, and has no plan for economic growth. His only plan gives billions in benefits to the wealthiest few and will do nothing to help middle class Canadians get ahead. Thomas Mulcair criticizes Alberta’s economy while irresponsibly supporting Harper’s plan to give more money to millionaires. Liberals, on the other hand, have a strong team in Alberta that will continue working hard, and sharing our plan for real change with their communities.
“This election is about our future, and we have the plan and the team to make a real, positive difference for Albertans,” said Mr. Trudeau. “We will cut taxes for the middle class, so Albertans and Canadians can keep more of their paycheques. We will also create one bigger, fair, automatic, and tax-free monthly benefit that will help families with the high cost of raising their kids. Nine out of ten families will get more from our plan. That’s real change.”
